artistic vision

As an artist, I seek:
to be present in the moment
to find my breath in the moment that is now
be available to the truth that presents itself
to question
to explore
to build community through shared live experiences
to work with what is
truthful acting no matter how stylized a production
to manifest the intentions of the playwright through rigorous script analysis and deep exploration
to strip away anything extraneous to the telling of the story
to be a collaborative director who encourages and leads from a point of view
to be an actor present with my scene partner(s) in pursuit of forward action inline with the story
to always be learning
amazing stories that share the story of what it is to be human

“If one really wishes to be master of an art, technical knowledge of it is not enough. One has to transcend technique so that the art becomes an ‘artless art’ growing out of the Unconscious.”

“All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness”
— Eckhart Tolle

“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”

“When you are present, you can allow the mind to be as it is without getting entangled in it. The mind in itself is a wonderful tool. Dysfunction sets in when you seek your self in it and mistake it for who you are”
Eckhart Tolle

Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare
Japanese Proverb

“Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment.”

“We are in the business of transporting people to other unique beautiful amazing worlds that they would never ever have had the blessing the privilege and the opportunity to be in the same space of. This is why we do what we do. This is why we write. This is why create theatre. Because we are here to create the links and the bridges between communities. We are here for people to see that each other are human beings. We are here because we believe in humanity, we believe in the spirit, we believe in the power of story to change our hearts, our lives, our world.”
Katori Hall
